Sharing our Passion with you

Our Cooking school

As I’m in love with the lao cuisine since I’m a child I've always wanted to share it as much as I can. That’s the reason why I decided to open cooking classes for foreigners visiting Luang Prabang.

The aim for me was to make them discover how we cook our ingredients here in Laos. And most of all, I like the fact that they come back home with sweet memories more than just pictures.

When people ask me what they should bring to the class ? My answer is « just bring your heart »

"Fresh & local vegetables from our organic garden"

During summer 2017, we started growing our own vegetables on our land located 5km south in the mountains of Luang Prabang.

The whole restaurant's team is actively involved and we are all delighted to be able to cook for you with our own organic seasonal vegetables.

We control the quality of our products from sowing to harvesting, and from the kitchen to your plate. Fresh local vegetables Luang Prabang MADE!

Two restaurants in Luang Prabang

Traditional Lao

& Fusion lao food

Our aim, as Lao native and lover, is to make you discover the authentic taste of the local cuisine. We do our best to cook traditional recipes with fresh local vegetables, meat, and spices. If you are looking for a travel through flavors and perfumes, you are at the right place.

The traditional way to eat in Laos, most of the time, requires to use your fingers. Especially when you eat sticky rice, you have to take a handful of it, and use it as a spoon. All the dishes for your lunch are served at the same time on a low table, and you pick in each of them depending on what you prefer. There are no starter, no sider.

We are regularly asked, what Lao people have for breakfast & dinner ?

Basically, there is no dish dedicated to a certain time of the day. Lao people eat what they love depending on the seasonal vegetables but mostly with rice.

After years of cooking lao recipes, I came with two main willings.

The first one was to provide a traditional lao cuisine with old and authentic recipe so as people can discover a part of our culture.

The second one was to experiment and create a new lao style of cooking. Taking ideas from lao dishes and modernize it with modern flavors and spices.

BEST FOOD IN LUANG PRABANG !

We ate here for dinner, and we're welcomed with a free drink and local snacks which was a lovely touch! We ordered tofu spring rolls each for starter (but could have shared between two as they were massive!) and sesame pork and Luang Prabang sausage for mains. Both meals were delicious - big portions and so tasty with a variety of sauces, loads of veg and lovely sticky rice. They were also beautifully presented in baskets which looked lovely. The service was excellent and we thought the prices were really reasonable given the standard of the food. Would recommend for a nice evening before a stroll back along the night market.

WONDERFUL AND  DELICIOUS EXPERIENCE

The morning I spent with Chef Linda learning about lao food was one of the best experiences while in Luang Prabang and one of the best cooking classes I had in southeast Asia.
You have the chance to actually cook the dishes you choose and prepare them under Linda's guidance, after an inspiring visit to the local market with Linda's sister.
Chef Linda is amazing and the food is simply delicious.
My favourite was OA SI KAI (stuffed lemongrass) and NAM WAN MARK KUAY (banana and pineapple in coconut cream).
The school has great conditions.
Not to be missed.

Lao food, my passion

Chef Linda

« First of all, I would like to say thanks to my mother and my uncle Chandra, they taught me how to cook great lao recipes. Our dishes are an important part of our culture.

When I was 13 years old, I started to learn how to cook with my mother. My very first dish was a bamboo soup and I loved it so much ! Today, I cook every day at the restaurant and have been teaching lao recipes for more than 10 years. During this time, I fell in love with the bamboo shoot and that's why I decided to call my restaurants BAMBOO Tree and BAMBOO WatSene.

For me, Lao cuisine is the tastiest one in the world, of course it’s mainly because I grew up with it.

It might take a whole day to make one recipe as there is so much preparation in slicing but if you love to cook, it's relaxing and joyful."

" I hope you will enjoy your meal as much as I love to cook it ! "
